Who is Avalon by Nature?
I'm Jo, and when I was living in Richmond in 2002, I made a cape for myself and my husband Ric told me that I should make them to sell. So I did. We started Avalon by Nature and exhibited the capes and velvet cushions at Magic Happens in November, held at Newtown. I was so nervous when the festival opened, but people came and looked and admired, and I even sold a couple and took some orders. I was on my way!
Since then, I've traded in markets all over Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle, have travelled west to Orange to visit family and work a Christmas Fair, and north to Kempsey and Port Macquarie. I've met so many interesting people and everyone has a tip to share or a supplier to try out. I've looked them all up and chosen the ones that suited my vision for this business.
What is the vision for Avalon by Nature?
My vision is to provide well-priced quality products to decorate, adorn, fragrance, uplift, empower or heal yourself and your space.
Over the years I've grown Avalon by Nature to a wide range of products - some you would be familiar with and some that you might not have come across at all, including unique handcrafted items.
Whether you choose an essential oil, a soy wax melt, or a piece of jewellery, be assured that I've chosen it to appeal to those who
have an interest in the spiritual, mystical, magical, make-believe, or the sensual.
It is easy to cater for women, but I also try to cater for men and am keen to hear what men are interested in.
I have also sourced some products that interest children, and I've found that children are open and keen to learn or share what they know.
I love a good chat and have persevered in trading in the the physical realm, as opposed to totally online, with the aim of reaching people who may have not come across the use of scent to create a sacred space. I've now found a home nearby to trade permanently, and will continue to trade at local festivals where I can. Check the Calendar page to see where I'll be next.

How did Avalon by Nature get it's name?
Avalon by Nature's name is derived from the Isle of Avalon as described in the novel by Marion Zimmer Bradley Mists of Avalon. The Isle of Avalon was a mystical place inhabited by Priestesses with skills in herbal healing and other magic. I use the name to describe the creation of your sacred, spiritual, mystical or magical space through the use of natural products.
